So, this happened today - I received a call and when I picked up, there was a brief pause before someone spoke. They inquired if I was (my name) but I ended the call abruptly. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to redial the number. Initially, I was greeted by a robotic voice for about 5 seconds until it connected me to a live person. This process repeated with yet another new voice on the line. Interestingly, they addressed me by name once more, although my caller ID was active. The individuals claimed to be from Millenium 1 Solutions, affiliated with Rogers, the cellphone network. They mentioned having special 'promotions' for me due to my tenure as a loyal customer. In essence, they were attempting to pitch some sort of 'deal' that required my credit card information.

Attended training, but left after first day on the floor. I had a feeling this place wasn't going to be great. The folks there were lovely, and the trainers were top-notch, but some of the team leaders or supervisors can be a bit strange. The reason I quit was the setup of this call center. You're crammed onto a desk with very little space, side by side, surrounded by loud noise. I don't know how customers manage to talk on the phone with such a racket in the background. Training felt almost pointless, though I did meet some wonderful people. On my first day on the floor, I felt completely unprepared. "Shadowing" was only given to us for 15 minutes, utterly useless. They use outdated software. Just take a stroll around the building and notice the countless cigarettes littering the floor due to employee stress. If you're considering working at a call center, opt for a well-known company like Bell, Rogers, TD Canada/Banks, etc. Avoid working for third-party companies that contract for larger corporations. The pay will always be meager, and the atmosphere won't be pleasant. Also, factor in the commute distance. This place is way out in Kanata. If you live far away, please seek employment elsewhere. The cost of gas will drain your wallet, or the OC bus ride will wear you out. And their dress code is just nonsensical. They expect you to dress in business attire from Monday to Thursday just to answer calls?? Seriously, I'll never meet the person on the other end of the line, yet they want me in dress pants and a shirt. Before deciding to work here, think about everything I've mentioned. A new class of 20 people starts each week, and the company has 800 employees. Do the math - the weekly dropout rate is 2.5%.
