Cumberland Home Inspections: A Closer Look at Customer Experiences

When it comes to home inspections, the reputation of Cumberland Home Inspections in Amherst, Nova Scotia, has sparked varied reactions from clients. Some experiences shine brightly, while others raise significant concerns. Let's explore these contrasting views.

Negative Feedback: A Cautionary Tale

Several clients have shared troubling reviews about their experiences with Cumberland Home Inspections. One client reported a severe oversight regarding water damage in the basement. They stated, "We have proof this company failed to let us know of massive water damage in the basement when it rains." The client described how water flows into the basement during storms, leaving trails in the mud—a clear sign of ongoing issues that were not disclosed during the inspection.

Moreover, this particular home was noted to have no insulation, resulting in drafts and discomfort. The same client mentioned, "I've had to buy at least 30 tubes of silicone to caulk the cracks everywhere." Such revelations highlight the importance of thorough inspections to avoid hidden problems.

The Sump Pump Dilemma

One of the more alarming complaints involved a malfunctioning sump pump. The client explained that when they sought help from the owner, the response was inadequate. “The sump pump didn't even work,” they asserted. “When I called the owner of this company to come check it, he said yes it works but grabbed a stick and lifted up the ball float?” This approach raises questions about the professionalism and thoroughness of the inspection process.

Positive Testimonials: A Different Perspective

While some experiences paint a grim picture, others commend Cumberland Home Inspections for their service. One satisfied customer highly recommended the company, stating, "I had a great experience dealing with Geoff for my house inspection. He is a very friendly person and does a great job." This contrast suggests that individual experiences may vary significantly based on specific inspectors or situations.

The Importance of Choosing Wisely

These testimonials serve as a reminder of the vital role home inspectors play in the purchasing process. Whether your experience aligns with the positive or negative accounts, doing thorough research and gathering multiple reviews can guide potential homeowners in making informed decisions.

As you consider hiring a home inspector, weigh both the positive and negative feedback about Cumberland Home Inspections. Avoiding potential pitfalls requires diligence and careful consideration of the insights shared by previous clients.

What an absolute shocker of a home inspector, I must say. We have evidence that this company failed to inform us about extensive water damage in the basement whenever it rains. There are literal streams of water flowing through the basement, leaving visible trails in the muddy floor every time it rains. The inspector conveniently neglected to mention this crucial detail. They explicitly stated that there were no indications of any prior water damage in the basement. Furthermore, the house lacks any insulation and is so draughty that I've had to purchase around 30 tubes of silicone to seal up the cracks all over the place. The inspector also failed to point out the cracked windows. We feel completely hoodwinked by this home inspector. Beware when engaging this company for a home inspection. Even the sump pump wasn't functional, and when I contacted the owner to assess it, he nonchalantly said it functions fine, proceeding to lift the ball float with a stick. A sump pump should activate automatically! How does that qualify as a thorough home inspection? For your information, the sump pit is corroded and insufficiently deep, preventing the pump from activating. We have ample evidence that this home inspection was a sham orchestrated to facilitate the sale of the property. I have the original inspection documents at hand as proof, so this company cannot deny their negligence.
