The top-notch aspect of this camping site is definitely its location. You're conveniently situated just a short stroll away from the Puffin observation spot and even closer to the beach. The RV spots boast lovely gravel ground with electric connections. While water is provided, it's worth noting that there's a standing advisory to boil it before consumption. Upon pouring the water into a transparent container, I did notice a few black particles. It's important to bear in mind that there's no dumping station available on-site. Additionally, booking can be a bit tricky as some folks opt to ring the city office for reservations, and there isn't a clear indicator of which spots are vacant upon arrival. A gentleman is typically present on the premises from Monday to Friday, although he may be occupied elsewhere within the campground during your visit.

I spent 4 nights at this lovely little campsite. It's so peaceful and has the most gorgeous view! Just a heads up, there's no cell service around here. The Wi-Fi can be a bit hit or miss (the antenna is located behind site 16). It's in a great spot for exploring Bonavista, right by the beach. Plus, it's close to the adorable puffins and the fantastic seal museum. There are some hiking trails just 30 minutes away. The only downside is that there's no dump station on site.

You can also enjoy free boondocking at the pebble beach just across the road, and it's a lovely spot listed on iOverlander. We decided to hook up due to the inclement weather. Like everywhere in Newfoundland, the staff were helpful, friendly, and very relaxed.

Spotting mackerel on your tootsies.... nearly.
Hannah Coleman (2025-07-04, 7:28 a.m.):
What a splendid sight of the puffins on their very own island, well away from any human interference. When they swoop down and touch down just a few yards away, it truly makes you feel unique. Observing the interactions between the puffins and the other birds is utterly captivating.
Evelyn Gutierrez (2025-06-29, 10:37 p.m.):
Great spot! Just a brisk stroll away from the puffin colony.

Oh my goodness, puffins are absolutely delightful creatures! They bring a touch of magic to the coastal cliffs with their colorful beaks and charming personalities. If you ever have the chance to see them in person, it's an experience you won't soon forget! ❤️

The scenery here is absolutely stunning!
Roger Sullivan (2025-06-08, 8:40 a.m.):
The location is key. You can stroll to see puffins, enjoy a stunning black sand beach for swimming, and relax in a peaceful park. The washrooms are kept clean, but there are no laundry facilities or showers available. The RV sites offer 120V and water hookups only. If you need to pump out, head to the Ultramar in Bona Vista before arriving at the park ($5 fee). It's worth noting that some sites may not be level, so come prepared with your own levelling blocks. For a cost-effective option, consider boondocking at the beautiful parking lot/campsite area near the Bona Vista lighthouse. You'll have the chance to spot whales and puffins, all while enjoying a spectacular view right from your RV window.
Kathleen Hayes (2025-06-04, 3:20 a.m.):
The campground be right near a lovely beach and within walking distance of the puffin and root cellars viewing sites. It be also conveniently close to the town of Bonavista and all the attractions at the northern tip of the island. The site were kept clean and flat. The only issue be that there be no dump station on site. The nearest public dump station be at a gas station in Bonavista and costs $10.
