Our dear mother, Dorothy, resided at Amica Arbutus Manor for a decade and what a joyous time it was for her. The attentive and compassionate staff at Amica were akin to family to her, and she held a deep affection for her home there. Dorothy was truly grateful for the exceptional care and support she received from everyone. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dining room manager, who warmly welcomed her on her first day and seated her with like-minded, delightful companions who soon became cherished friends. The culinary delights prepared by the Chef, especially the delectable Fish & Chips on Fridays, were always a highlight for Dorothy. The dedicated Dining Room Staff went above and beyond, providing that extra touch of assistance, whether it was helping her with her meal or sneaking an extra serving of ice cream her way.

The Concierge greeted Dorothy with a smile and a chuckle, patiently addressing all her queries. The diligent screeners ensured her safety, while the nursing staff and care aids attended to her every need and kept the family well-informed, allowing Dorothy to remain comfortably at home during her final days. The maintenance team, always patient and helpful, maintained the facilities in tip-top shape and were ever ready to assist Dorothy, be it with her TV remote or any other task.

A huge thanks to the housekeeping crew for keeping Dorothy's living space spotless and welcoming, with fresh linens and tidy arrangements. The Life Enrichment team brought light-hearted fun, engaging entertainment, exciting outings, and special events that brought immense joy to Dorothy over the years. To all the wonderful individuals at Amica Arbutus Manor, Dorothy's family extends their profound gratitude for the love and care showered upon her throughout her stay. We are forever thankful for the immeasurable support and comfort you provided to our beloved mother.

The staff are ever so friendly, the environment is calm and peaceful, and it's conveniently located near grocery stores, public transportation, and not too far from the downtown area. A truly wonderful place to reside in.

I haven't moved in myself, but I did pop by to take a look-see at the digs. The residents seem to be getting top-notch care from a super friendly crew. The place is snug as a bug in a rug in lovely Vancouver. It's an older joint, so a bit of sprucing up here and there wouldn't go amiss. They've got tons of activities going on to keep everyone entertained and engaged.

Such a lovely retirement community. We decided to bring our 93-year-old mother here after she had a fall and required more daily care than we could provide. Despite still having some mobility, she needed additional support and attention. The rooms are quite pleasant, and the staff we encountered were all very friendly. Even after a brief period of time there, this wonderful treatment persists. They truly make her feel valued and looked after. The meals are delightful, and they certainly accommodate all individual preferences and requirements.

I never would have thought that retirement living could be so luxurious, but it seems that Amica has really nailed it! A pal of mine couldn't stop talking about the gourmet meals prepared by the chef. He even shared pictures of an Elvis impersonator who visited in a 1965 pink Cadillac – what a hoot!
Karen Jackson (2025-05-27, 2:41 p.m.):
I popped in to check if this place would be suitable for me old folks. Lovely establishment with stunning gardens!

I've had the pleasure of providing physiotherapy treatment to the residents at Amica Arbutus Manor and I must say, it's truly exceptional. What sets this community apart is the outstanding service, level of care, and professionalism that they offer. The staff is absolutely fantastic and they truly go the extra mile to ensure that each resident feels completely at home. I highly recommend Amica Arbutus Manor as they have truly mastered the art of providing a modern and vibrant living experience for their residents with a wide range of options available.

My Mother-in-Law resided at Amica Arbutus for nearly eight wonderful years. Each Wednesday, my husband Ric and I would pay her a visit, taking care of her laundry, spending quality time together, and enjoying a delicious dinner. We became acquainted with the amazing staff and fellow residents, always receiving a warm welcome with cheerful smiles and playful remarks like "It must be Wednesday!" Throughout the years, we had the pleasure of attending various special events organized by the staff. To our dear Mom, Amica was not just a place to stay, but a loving home filled with family. Sadly, we said goodbye to Dorothy in early March last year, just before the onset of the Covid lockdown. Fortunately, we were able to bid her farewell at the hospital, and we couldn't help but acknowledge her impeccable timing.
Laura Martin (2025-05-22, 12:04 a.m.):
Absolutely splendid and tranquil

Amica Arbutus Manor is a gorgeous estate surrounded by lush, verdant trees, nestled in a tranquil residential area. The team is simply delightful and exudes professionalism. April, Amy, and Selena are not only lovely individuals but also excel in their roles. As a relative of a recent resident, I am truly appreciative of their talent and proficiency.
Matthew James (2025-05-10, 1:17 p.m.):
Our dear mum resided in Suite # 261, situated upstairs at Amica! Being in such close proximity granted her access to both the upper dining room and the main dining room on the ground level! Encouraged by the friendships she developed with fellow residents and the dedicated staff, our mother opted to spend much of her time on the second floor! The warmth and care she received from friends like Ted & Jill, alongside the EXCEPTIONAL staff on the second floor, made her stay at Amica enjoyable, even after the onset of Covid! The compassion (and genuine affection) exhibited by the remarkable second-floor team (including LPNs, dining personnel, cleaning staff, etc.) as our mom's needs evolved from coping to assistance, palliative care, and ultimately end-of-life care, exceeded all expectations! There are truly no words adequate enough to express our gratitude - a simple thank you seems insufficient! **Shared on behalf of a former resident**
Kyle Davis (2025-05-06, 8:45 p.m.):
My dear old gran absolutely adores the retirement community! The meals are simply splendid, especially for those who may be missing a few pearly whites.

Deborah Hamilton (2025-05-02, 3:06 a.m.):
Oh, jolly good time at the Strawberry Social to show gratitude to all those splendid chaps supporting the new retirement community over at Bleinham and 41st. It was a delightful event, filled with cheer and camaraderie. Looking forward to seeing this wonderful community come to life! Cheers!
Amber Long (2025-04-29, 7:45 a.m.):
My nan resides in this splendid retirement community. It appears to be a delightful place to call home, offering a plethora of amenities and top-notch care services.
Kathleen Nelson (2025-04-28, 11:11 p.m.):
I recently spent a fortnight at Amica Arbutus Manor recuperating post major heart surgery at VGH. It was truly the most ideal healing experience one could hope for. My vitals were consistently monitored, and assistance with bathing and dressing was readily available if needed.

The staff were exceptional, cultivating a familial atmosphere in a delightful and tranquil setting. The meals provided were wonderfully nutritious and fresh, delivered to my room thrice daily.

Due to my limited mobility, I didn't engage in the array of activities and entertainment on offer. However, I still relished strolling daily and relishing the outdoor spaces, particularly the Courtyard patio - a sanctuary with trees, shrubs, a water pond, and two resident ducks, surrounded by comfortable outdoor seating.

A truly comforting and compassionate environment for recovery. I extend my gratitude to all at Amica for the exceptional care they provided.
Cynthia Flores (2025-04-28, 9:39 p.m.):
After recently finding myself in need of a short respite stay following an unexpected hospitalization, I cannot express enough gratitude for discovering Amica Arbutus. The staff members at Amica Arbutus were not only incredibly helpful and professional, but also made me feel truly cared for and welcomed. From the general manager to every member of the team, the facility is exceptionally well-managed and everyone is accommodating, cheerful, and dedicated to ensuring residents feel at home. The meals provided are not only delicious but also thoughtfully prepared. The residence is designed to meet the unique needs of the community with a wide range of activities, enjoyable exercise sessions, and lovely courtyards. I wholeheartedly recommend Amica Arbutus to anyone without hesitation!
