I was standing by the window at the snack bar, and I observed the staff chatting on the phone. When they finally hung up, they disappeared into the back without taking my order. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I made the decision to head over to PK's instead.

We recently indulged in some chicken snacks paired with fries at this quaint snack bar. The home-style fries were simply delightful, and the chicken was quite enjoyable, although it did lean towards the greasy side.

However, the true disappointment came in the form of their gravy. I must say, it lacked any discernible flavor and had a rather off-putting chemical aftertaste, reminiscent of chlorine from chilled tap water. I strongly advise against ordering the gravy as it was a major letdown, especially considering it's usually one of the highlights of my meal.
Judith Martinez (2025-08-20, 11:08 a.m.):
Absolutely top-notch chicken and fries! They were simply scrumptious, mate.
Mary Green (2025-08-20, 2:13 a.m.):
I must say, I highly recommend avoiding anything with batter (chicken, wedge-fries, wedgies, etc.) unless you have truly terrible taste buds. I used to enjoy their chicken for almost two decades, but recently, it's not even good enough for my dog. I really wish they would return to their original recipe, as it was far more flavorful than what they currently offer.
Dorothy Miller (2025-08-19, 9:13 a.m.):
The scran here is bangin' most of the time. I wouldn't bother with the pizza though; it's lacking in toppings, the crust is paper thin, and the works are just a few measly slices of meat.
Abigail Gonzalez (2025-08-17, 6:56 a.m.):
Finest chicken and subs you'll find on the Bonavista Peninsula, I must say!
Gloria Torres (2025-08-17, 1:49 a.m.):
The wedge fries have been transformed into French fries with a touch of flour. They lack any coating and flavor whatsoever.
Andrea Mitchell (2025-08-16, 3:48 p.m.):
The fried chicken at this place is absolutely top-notch!
Hannah Flores (2025-08-16, 9:58 a.m.):
Absolutely: A visit to Bonavista wouldn't be the same without indulging in a serving of Marsh's famous chicken.
Michael Williams (2025-08-13, 6:13 a.m.):
I was in dire need of some pizza and wings, and boy did I get just that!

The pizza had toppings galore and the wings came in a hefty pound serving.

While it may not be the absolute best, it was certainly very good.
Hannah Watson (2025-08-13, 3:27 a.m.):
Delightful snacks and delectable treats await at this charming snack bar. From savory bites to sweet delights, you'll find a medley of flavors to tantalize your taste buds. Indulge in a culinary adventure like no other at this cozy spot.
Jeremy Alexander (2025-08-12, 1:07 p.m.):
Top notch nosh and impeccable service!
Joe Patterson (2025-08-12, 5:55 a.m.):
The wedgies are top-notch, mate! The garlic fingers were alright, but I appreciated the use of real bacon. Keen to sample more items from the menu!

And how 'bout the staff giving us a bell when our order was ready? That was spot on, I must say.
Leonard Sanders (2025-08-10, 8:55 a.m.):
I wouldn't suggest dining at this establishment as they have a tendency to bar unhappy customers rather than address any concerns with their food or service.
Debra Richardson (2025-08-07, 5:12 p.m.):
I've popped into Mary Brown's, swung by KFC, so I do reckon I've got a fair bit of know-how when it comes to fried chicken. Let me tell you, this spot here is in a league of its own. Make sure to pop in early before they run out of goodies.
Virginia Graham (2025-08-01, 4:38 a.m.):
The burgers here are absolutely smashing, mate!
Edward Stewart (2025-08-01, 4:14 a.m.):
I've been visiting this snack bar in central NL for the past 10 years to enjoy their delicious chicken and whale watching. However, my recent experience will sadly be my last due to an unfortunate incident. We noticed we had been overcharged by $5 for our pizza, so we politely approached the server to inquire about the discrepancy and requested to speak with the manager.

The server refused to refund us the $5 and insisted we return the pizza for a full refund. Thinking we wouldn't follow through, she seemed hesitant. Nonetheless, we returned with the pizza, declined the refund, and asked again to speak with the manager. Instead of assisting us, the server rudely dismissed us, accusing us of harassing her and threatened to call a cab for us.

Despite explaining that we didn't need a cab and simply wanted to talk to the manager, she persistently insisted we leave. Frustrated by the situation, I decided to forfeit the refund and walked away without the pizza. It's disheartening that a simple request for a refund escalated into such a negative experience.

If you enjoy being overcharged and dealing with unwarranted harassment, then perhaps this establishment is the perfect fit for you. As for me, I won't be returning after this disappointing encounter.

Certainly old chap, the snack bar featured in this blog is simply quintessential. The variety of snacks offered is truly top-notch, and the ambience of the bar is just perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely snack. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area! Cheers!
Judy Mitchell (2025-07-28, 11:27 p.m.):
I made a pit stop in Bonavista after a long haul from Ontario, and let me tell you, stumbling upon this gem was a true delight. The chicken was top-notch, and the folks running the joint were absolute darlings. Appreciate the warm welcome, mates!
Peter Murphy (2025-07-28, 10:02 p.m.):
A mate journeyed all the way from Bonavista to Calgary and fetched us Marsh's chicken. Even though it wasn't freshly cooked upon reaching Calgary, it was still scrumptious! I'm usually not a fan of reheated fried chicken, but theirs still hit the spot! 💙
