This is a wonderful spot to shop or explore when you're in Banff. The proprietors are incredibly friendly and well-informed. Each time I visit, they always make me feel right at home by greeting me with a warm welcome and using my name. This will forever be my go-to destination for gemstones, minerals, and more!

Everything we purchased broke within a month. One braided chain necklace broke at the connection, two rock "loops" that connected the chain or rope snapped within days, and one stone cracked when it was accidentally dropped on the floor (although that was probably to be expected?).

So, my 10-year-old child pops into the shop and decides to purchase a rock without my say-so. I pop back over to the store to sort out the situation and request a refund. The store is firm in their no return policy. Despite having a chat with a manager, they still refuse to budge. I understand that stores have their policies, but perhaps they should consider having a rule regarding accepting money from minors without parental consent.

It appears that honest business practices take a backseat to their relentless pursuit of profit. Quite disconcerting, indeed.

They only allow 5 folks in the shop at a time 'cause of covid. The amount of staff they got is more than the people allowed. Why do they need so much staff for just 5 folks, mate? They didn't let our family of 3 in, only 2 of us. We had to wait 10 minutes in -30 degrees. They've lost our custom if they want one person to wait outside while their staff are all inside, wandering about doing nowt.

Despite being assured that bubble wrap was utilized, it was evident that it was not the case. A rather disheartening experience, as proper care was not taken in handling our precious stones.

You just have to visit this place if you're in Banff! It's a fabulous store with loads to explore and an abundance of fossils. I purchased a dinosaur tooth for my brother and he was thrilled.
