Shoppers Drug Mart: A Comprehensive Overview

If you're in Alliston, Ontario, and looking for a pharmacy that combines convenience with a variety of accessibility features, Shoppers Drug Mart is a notable option. With on-site services ranging from prescription refills to Canada Post moments away, it's a one-stop shop for many residents.

Convenient Payment Options

At Shoppers Drug Mart, customers can utilize various payment methods to make transactions smoother. Whether you prefer debit cards, credit cards, or the latest in technology with NFC mobile payments, this pharmacy has got you covered. This flexibility ensures that you can make your purchases quickly during a quick visit.

Service Options and Accessibility

The pharmacy prides itself on providing on-site services, which include medication consultations and prescription refills. Unfortunately, customer feedback suggests that wait times can be an issue, with many reporting long delays when trying to pick up prescriptions. However, the pharmacy does feature a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it easier for those with mobility challenges to access services. Additionally, a wheelchair-accessible toilet is available for convenience.

Customer Experience

While some reviews celebrate the friendly and knowledgeable staff, others express concern over inconsistent customer service. Complaints about long wait times and rude interactions have been common among patrons. Some customers found the assistance they received inadequate, especially when dealing with urgent health concerns.

Community Impact and Concerns

Recent discussions around the pharmacy have raised awareness about the potential dangers of certain products marketed to young people, such as nitrous oxide. Customers have voiced concerns that products should be better regulated and advertised responsibly. The management reportedly responded to these concerns, but many feel that further action is required to ensure the safety of all customers, particularly minors.

Final Thoughts

Shoppers Drug Mart in Alliston serves as a significant resource for the community, offering essential pharmacy services and products. However, the mixed reviews highlight the need for improvement in customer service and responsiveness. For those considering a visit, it's advisable to keep in mind both the positive attributes and the areas needing attention.

Top pharmacy, make sure to always keep track of your points!

The pharmacy at Alliston Shoppers is quite dreadful. The individuals there are terribly impolite, particularly over the phone. I found myself without my medication and they refused to provide me with just 2 pills until Monday when my doctor would be available. This is an urgent situation and they showed no concern whatsoever. I always believed that pharmacists were meant to assist us with our health. Fortunately, the pharmacist at my doctor's office is going out of his way to travel from Barrie to open up his shop and provide me with my medication. I decided to stop using Shoppers because waiting two hours for them to simply count out 30 pills and put them in a bottle was just unacceptable. There wasn't a single person ahead of me, yet it was a two-hour wait. The individual (and I use that term loosely) I spoke with today goes by the name Connie, and she clearly needs to brush up on her people skills.

Appalling pharmacy, no consideration for their customers. Always out of stock of my prescription and I have to make multiple trips. Recently attempted to change to a reliable location closer to my home - especially since my car is in the garage. But they conveniently forget to mention they can't transfer any remaining balance... Resulting in me being left without my medication. Dealing with a severe medical problem now due to their incompetence.

Fantastic, caring pharmacy and store staff who assisted me. Much gratitude!
Emily Jenkins (2025-04-12, 10:32 p.m.):
The first time I used this SDM was about 4 years ago. The staff at the post office counter were extremely rude and unkind, so I never used that service there again. Especially after hearing it still happens.
Just about a month ago, I brought my mother in to pick up her Rx and buy iron pills. The pharmacist actually checked the bottle and sold us EXPIRED medication! And I can guarantee she knew what she was doing.
Following all this, I recently found out that they do not sell ANY African hair products. This is Ontario, Canada, right? Well, needless to say, we are doing our research to find out why all this is even a thing.
Wish there was a 0 stars rating.

A chain pharmacy has been opened on the main road in this area.
Jean Morales (2025-04-07, 4:37 p.m.):
Some of the ladies at the cash register could use an attitude adjustment, especially the older ones.
Donna Davis (2025-04-07, 3:03 p.m.):
Lovely clean and welcoming. Can't ask for much more.
Katherine Jones (2025-04-07, 11:58 a.m.):
I only pop in 'ere for mail pick up and drop off. I stopped buyin' bits 'ere coz the customer service is just awful.

When the queue gets long, ye'll see associates strollin' by like they ain't got a care in the world. There's no urgency at all. Then I start thinkin', where on earth is the manager? They oughta be sortin' this out...

I've even waited more than 15 minutes just to cash out. After 15 min, there's usually a line stretchin' halfway through the shop behind me. More than a few times, I've jolly well left me bits and shopped elsewhere. And on a couple o' them occasions I had a broken bone, with a cast on me foot =/

No one seems to give a toss at this place, so why should I splash me cash 'ere?

Huge thanks to the lovely ladies in the cosmetics department on the day shift of November 16th. I regret not catching your names, but I would have preferred to make this more personal. Not only did they assist me with my cosmetics shopping, they went above and beyond to ensure that I had the easiest and least physically demanding experience possible. I truly appreciated their thoughtfulness as they were aware that I was experiencing some discomfort. Thank you once again, Ladies!
Janice Nelson (2025-04-07, 3:11 a.m.):
I wanted to have some visa-related photos taken for my baby. I called in the morning to inquire if I could do a walk-in or needed an appointment. A lady on the phone kindly informed me that I could come between 4 PM and 8 PM for a walk-in appointment. When I arrived with my baby at the specified time, the person there rudely refused to even attempt taking the photos, claiming we had received incorrect information. Despite our multiple requests, all we received was a blunt refusal.
Albert Perry (2025-04-05, 7:53 a.m.):
Great pharmacy, the staff are all very friendly except for one lady with short red hair. She can be quite rude and unhelpful, giving off a negative attitude and providing incorrect information. Quite disappointing, really.
Stephanie Phillips (2025-04-05, 1:58 a.m.):
It's a typical shopping experience. It always feels understaffed.
Jonathan Young (2025-04-02, 3:56 p.m.):
My regular pharmacy didn't have my prescription ready and I would've had to wait almost a week for it. I phoned Shoppers and they not only had what I needed, but they also contacted my usual pharmacy, got my prescription, and then messaged me when it was ready for pick up in less than an hour. The pharmacist was really kind and supportive too. I would definitely recommend them. Thanks!
Roy Hamilton (2025-04-01, 1:09 a.m.):
Been waiting for over 3 hours for them to make medicine for a 4-year-old! There are more than 10 people lined up in the pick-up line! What a broken system.
Philip Rodriguez (2025-03-31, 8:20 a.m.):
Allow me to begin by mentioning that I have one more prescription to fill before I switch to a different pharmacy. Yesterday, I tried to have my inhaler delivered. The delivery itself was not the issue. I specifically requested for them to buzz my unit or give me a call. They even noted this on the bag containing the medication. However, the delivery driver ignored these instructions. Additionally, I was informed that I would be charged $5.00 for the medication to be redelivered, which was not my fault. The code can be accessed through my phone, which I always have with me. It seems that when you are a senior or have a disability, you are disregarded. As you can see, it is all documented.
