I do say, it's rather a shame I couldn't leave a glowing review, but my companions and I did find ourselves left to linger outside for a good ten minutes without a soul acknowledging our presence. Not a single glance nor a simple greeting from the waitress or any other member of staff, you see.
One would think the very least they could do would be to inform us if they were simply too occupied to tend to another table! Oh, the hospitality, or lack thereof, truly left much to be desired, wouldn't you agree?

What a delightful find for lunch: an explosion of flavors in every bite. The ambiance is serene and the view is simply stunning. We will most certainly be returning.

My visit to this dining establishment was an absolute catastrophe. Upon our arrival, the staff displayed a shocking level of rudeness, failing to extend even a basic welcome. Despite my clearly presented assistance dog documentation, access to the terrace was denied, which is utterly inexcusable. The disrespect shown towards both myself and my service animal is completely intolerable. I wholeheartedly discourage anyone from patronizing this establishment and urge all diners to steer clear of this restaurant at any cost.

The grub was top-notch, I must say. The missus and I split the beet carpaccio with duck, and let me tell you, it was simply divine. She opted for the Chef's selection of meat, which happened to be beef cooked to perfection. As for me, I indulged in the mushroom ravioli, and it did not disappoint. The assortment of wines was impressive, I must admit. I can only imagine how lovely the outdoor terrace would be during the warmer season, offering a picturesque view of the St. Lawrence River. Cheers to good food and great company!

I'd rate the place a solid 4, with the standout dish being the fish and chips. My partner's salmon, on the other hand, was a tad overcooked. Can't fault the service though – our server was top-notch, attentive, and friendly even behind the mask. And those fries? Absolutely top-notch.

The atmosphere, ambience, and service at this restaurant are top-notch. Our meal was absolutely delicious. A must-visit if you find yourself in Baie St-Paul. Additionally, they have rooms available for guests who wish to enjoy a river view. This was a fantastic find for us.

Outstanding casual dining experience. The menu may be on the smaller side, but every dish is crafted with care from start to finish. The fries are simply fantastic, and the lobster rolls are fresh and absolutely exquisite. The salads are top-notch and the desserts are a real treat. My personal favorite was the indulgent chocolate pecan pie. The service provided was truly exceptional.
Christina Thompson (2025-07-01, 4:22 a.m.):
The restaurant was about to close at 2:30 p.m., and it was already 2:00 p.m. when four of us walked in through the main entrance, craving a beer after a long stroll. The staff directed us to the terrace, where we tried to place our order. However, the waitress informed us that the terrace was closing, despite seeing her serve the last customers their main course. We were taken aback and explained that we had been instructed to sit on the terrace by another staff member and that we only wanted a quick drink after our walk. Surprisingly, the waitress remained firm and apologized for the inconvenience. This seemed like a typical attitude from someone who relies on the steady flow of tourists for income without putting much effort into customer service.
Although the dishes we glimpsed looked appetizing, I decided to give other restaurants a chance instead. It's worth noting that in BSP, there are plenty of excellent dining options where you could eat for a week without repeating the same place twice.

Had a splendid lunch on the terrace overlooking the bay! The omelette with all the trimmings was absolutely delightful! Excellent service too. I highly recommend this place!

This spot is truly wonderful for a delightful breakfast accompanied by a refreshing Mimosa!
Jessica Edwards (2025-06-26, 1:06 a.m.):
Fantastic grub and stunning ambiance. Hands down the most splendid spot we've visited in BSP.
Justin Jones (2025-06-25, 9:14 p.m.):
Well I must say, what a tourist trap this place turned out to be! The ambiance was quite lovely, I'll give them that, but let's not overlook the most important aspect: the food. Our group ordered a variety of dishes and sadly, every single one was a letdown. Some dishes weren't even complete, and instead of fries we were served chips. Can you imagine? And don't get me started on those cold mussels that were then reheated in the microwave. It certainly raised some eyebrows, let me tell you.
Diane Davis (2025-06-24, 11:06 a.m.):
I must say, I simply can't wrap my head around the negative feedback this establishment has received. Our dining experience was top-notch (or as they say in Quebec, magnifique). The cuisine was exquisite (that lobster roll was truly something else) and the prices quite reasonable. The delightful service and the beautifully designed, inviting ambiance only added to the overall charm of the place.
Catherine Richardson (2025-06-23, 10:07 a.m.):
I visited Bistro de l'estran for brunch and was absolutely delighted with my experience. The array of dishes and the exquisite quality of the cuisine truly caught me off guard. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Ryan Walker (2025-06-21, 1:30 p.m.):
I am from Germany and the service was awful. One cocktail tasted like water. When we mentioned this to the waitress, we were told that we were mistaken and that we still had to pay for it and could not get a replacement. The service was incredibly poor. I will definitely not be returning.
Vincent Reynolds (2025-06-21, 5:57 a.m.):
A truly lovely spot that we absolutely adored.
The summer terrace is absolutely splendid, with a vibrant and welcoming staff. We had the pleasure of lounging on cozy couches, enjoying a live concert, sipping on delicious cocktails, and indulging in some tasty brunch dishes.
My daughter couldn't get enough of her poutine, and my son was a big fan of his Virgin mojito. It was a delightful experience.
I can't fail to mention the awe-inspiring view and the fantastic location, just a stone's throw away from a pristine sandy beach. What a wonderful find!
Paul Graham (2025-06-21, 12:28 a.m.):
The eatery provides a stunning vista of the river. On our office team-building outing, we indulged in a scrumptious multi-course feast. The establishment is elegantly adorned and provides top-notch customer service.
The lounge exudes a cozy and inviting ambiance, prompting you to sink into a sofa with a good book. I wholeheartedly endorse this spot!
Harold Ramos (2025-06-20, 3:06 a.m.):
Our favorite restaurant since arriving in Quebec!
Charming reception, cozy ambiance, highly attentive service, and outstanding cuisine, with a special shoutout to the putanesca! The meat dishes are also superb.
The location appeared to be ideal by the Saint Lawrence and Gouffre River, though it was dark when we visited so we didn't get a good look.
We wholeheartedly recommend this place!!!

Gerald Morris (2025-06-18, 4:28 p.m.):
We had made a reservation and arrived promptly at the restaurant. However, we were left waiting with the menu for a good half hour without any staff attending to us. When we inquired about a Slovak wine, the servers seemed just as clueless as we were. To our disappointment, after an hour we were informed that the only appealing main dish on the menu was unavailable. Additionally, the starters were delivered before the wine, and they did not meet our expectations of fine dining.
Frustrated with the lackluster service and quality of food, we decided to cut our losses and seek dinner elsewhere.
The following morning, we were entitled to breakfast as part of our accommodation at Belle Plage. Aiming to be punctual for our scheduled massages at 10 a.m., we arrived more than an hour early. However, to our dismay, the food was served at 9:45, leaving us to rush through our meal and ultimately arriving flustered and tardy for our appointment.
In conclusion, this was undoubtedly the most unsatisfactory restaurant-hotel experience we have encountered. Despite the picturesque location and stunning views, the overall experience fell short in every aspect.

What a lovely spot for a midday meal! My partner and I were absolutely enchanted by the experience. The exceptional, attentive service provided by our server Denis truly stood out. We were thoroughly impressed by the high-quality cuisine and the tranquil ambiance. Thank you so much! We will definitely be returning in the near future.
